Policy influencing
Biocultural perspectives are running through policy frameworks of renowned global undertakings including the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and the Inter-governmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystems Services (IPBES). National policies are most often developed but are scarcely implemented as downloading the relevant provisions of these undertakings to the local level and identifying points and scope of intervening has always been a challenge. NCF is entering into this space to give impetus to the ongoing efforts by recommending new strategies mainly targeting institutions and duty holders in bio-cultural conservation (including government agencies at national and county levels, policy actors and institutions of higher learning) to recognize a plural-legal governance system, while accompanying earth stewards in their pursuit for eco-cultural affirmation. A key component of this work is elaboration of rights of nature within cosmovisions of different communities.
