About Us

Ngaatho Community Foundation (NCF) was formed and registered as a foundation in 2015. NCF works to promote the use of diverse knowledge systems to address climate change, conserve the environment, and assure food and nutritional security for people. The organization promotes a culture of gratitude where gifts follow the circle of reciprocity and flow back to people and nature. It is this understanding that the organization uses to promote interbeing with nature. NCF mobilizes traditional ecological knowledge and practices; promotes collaboration between knowledge systems; and facilitates policy engagements that elaborate and promote the evolving philosophy around rights of nature as the foundation for environmental rights.

Biocultural perspectives are running through policy frameworks of renowned global undertakings including the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and the Inter-governmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystems Services (IPBES).
